As expected, Onyx has announced the release of a new Kindle Oasis clone with a 7-inch color E Ink screen, but the name is rather unexpected. The new device is called the Boox Go Color 7, and it’s part of Onyx’s new Go Series, but it looks a lot like the Boox Page model from last year.
The Go Color 7 is available in both white and black colors, and it has the same 7-inch Kaleido 3 screen as all the other similar color models that have been coming out this year, like the Kobo Libra Colour and the PocketBook Era Color.
The new Boox Go Color 7 has some advantages over those devices, though, like the fact that it runs Android 12 and has Google Play built-in to install apps. The Go Color also has a ridiculous amount of storage space (64GB) and more RAM (4GB), and it has a microSD card slot, along with a built-in speaker and a microphone.
It has a recessed screen like the Libra Colour, but unlike the Kobo, it doesn’t support stylus input.
One interesting detail, Onyx is advertising it as “water-repellent”, but the fine print says that it is not waterproof, and that the water-repellent effect may decrease over time. Onyx is one company that just isn’t into the waterproofing thing; this is as close as they’ve gotten.

The Boox Go Color 7 is priced at $249 and it’s available to order now from Onyx’s Boox Shop. It’ll be interesting to see if Onyx sells it from their Amazon store as well. They don’t usually sell their smaller ereaders on Amazon, but they are selling the Palma there now. If not, it might show up at Onyx’s other retailers like B&H and Best Buy at some point.
